FINAL:              UMASS DARTMOUTH 4, MASSACHUSETTS MARITIME 2

BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. --  Senior Stephan Teixeira’s (Brockton, Mass.) goal in the 71^st minute proved to be the game-winner as UMass Dartmouth rallied from an early two-goal deficit to notch a 4-2 non-league college men’s soccer victory over Massachusetts Maritime Tuesday evening at Clean Harbors Stadium.

The visiting Corsairs (7-3-1) found themselves trailing 2-0 just 13:14 into the contest, as tallies by freshman Adam Crawford (Kingston, Mass.) and junior Kevin O’Leary (Norton, Mass.) had staked the host Buccaneers (5-4-1) to that early cushion.  Senior Akere Tambi (Bamenda, Cameroon) sliced UMass Dartmouth’s deficit in half with just 1:38 remaining before intermission, and senior Matt Vidal (New Bedford, Mass.) evened matters for the visitors in the 61^st minute with his 11^th goal of the season to set up Teixeira’s heroics.  Junior Austin Dias (Smithfield, R.I.) provided an insurance tally for the Corsairs two minutes after Teixeira’s game-winner to account for the final margin and extend UMass Dartmouth’s unbeaten string to four straight.

Junior Haden Cordeiro (Dartmouth, Mass.) collected a pair of assists in the win for the visitors, who also received helpers from sophomores Junior Monteiro (Santiago, Cape Verde) and Cody Woods (Londonderry, N.H.).  Sophomore William Taylor (Hanover, Mass.) assisted on Crawford’s first collegiate tally in the setback for Massachusetts Maritime, while senior Thomas McCarthy (Tybee Island, Ga.) provided the helper on O’Leary’s second marker of the fall.

Senior Luis Carranza (New Bedford, Mass.) earned his sixth win of the season in goal for the Corsairs by making one second half save in relief of freshman Danny Andrade (New Bedford, Mass.), who recorded a pair of stops in the opening 45 minutes of action.  Junior Mike Pruchnik (Rochester, Mass.) made six saves in the setback for the Buccaneers, as UMass Dartmouth outshot Massachusetts Maritime by a 17-11 margin overall (10-5 on goal) and took seven of the eight corner kicks for the contest.

Massachusetts Maritime hosts Fitchburg State in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference outing on Friday evening at Clean Harbors Stadium beginning at 7:00 p.m., while UMass Dartmouth heads into Boston on Saturday evening to square off with 10^th-ranked UMass Boston in a Little East Conference clash that also begins at 7:00 p.m.
