NEWPORT, R.I. --  Junior Jared Warren (Georgetown, Mass.) netted a pair of goals, while sophomore Matthew O’Donnell (Pittsburgh, Pa.) added a marker and two assists to lead Salve Regina to a 6-0 non-league college men’s soccer victory over Massachusetts Maritime Wednesday afternoon at Brother Reynolds Field.

After a scoreless first half of action, the host Seahawks (2-6-1) took control of the contest by tallying four times in the opening 8:12 after intermission, as goals by Warren in the 48^th and 54^th minutes sandwiched markers by O’Donnell and senior Nolan Brady (Needham, Mass.) that came just 21 seconds apart.  Freshman Michael Nadtochij (Medway, Mass.) extended Salve Regina’s lead to 5-0 in the 73^rd minute on an O’Donnell feed, while sophomore Nathaniel Crocker’s (Hallowell, Maine) tally with 9:36 remaining accounted for the final score.

Brady added an assist to go with his goal in the triumph for the Seahawks, who also received a helper from senior Evan Dudney (North Andover, Mass.).  Sophomore Michael Payan (Fort Lee, N.J.) picked up the shutout win in goal for the hosts with an 11-save effort, while junior Mike Pruchnik (Rochester, Mass.) made eight stops over the first 60-plus minutes of play in the setback for the visiting Buccaneers (4-3-1), who also received a second half save from sophomore Connor Murphy (Mashpee, Mass.).  Salve Regina outshot Massachusetts Maritime by a 25-11 margin overall (15-11 on goal), while the visitors took five of the seven corner kicks on the afternoon.

Massachusetts Maritime heads to Salem, Mass. on Saturday afternoon to take on Salem State in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference outing beginning at 3:00 p.m., while Salve Regina hosts Eastern Nazarene in a Commonwealth Coast Conference clash on Saturday afternoon at Brother Reynolds Field that also begins at 3:00 p.m.
