FINAL:              SALVE REGINA 1, MASSACHUSETTS MARITIME 0

BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. --  Junior Alex Wasilewski's (San Juan Capistrano, Calif.) goal with 14 seconds remaining in the first half held up as the game-winner and lifted Salve Regina to a 1-0 non-league college men's soccer victory over Massachusetts Maritime Tuesday evening at Clean Harbors Stadium.

Wasilewski converted a feed from sophomore Andrew Chenard (Kingston, Mass.) and blasted a shot from 10 yards out for his third marker of the season as the opening half wound down for the visiting Seahawks (4-5-1), and sophomore Daniel Stern (Kings Park, N.Y.) made that stand up with a four-save effort in net for Salve Regina to notch his second shutout of the campaign.

Freshman Thomas Funkhauser (Purcellville, Va.) made six first half stops in goal in the setback for the host Buccaneers (5-1-2), who suffered their first defeat of the season, while fellow freshman Joe Cohen (Plymouth, Mass.) made a pair of saves over the final 45 minutes of play.  Salve Regina outshot Massachusetts Maritime by a 16-5 margin overall (9-4 on goal) while holding a 9-2 advantage in corners for the contest.

Massachusetts Maritime hosts Westfield State in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference outing on Friday evening at Clean Harbors Stadium beginning at 6:00 p.m., while Salve Regina hosts the University of New England in a Commonwealth Coast Conference match on Saturday afternoon in Newport, R.I. that begins at 3:00 p.m.
