Football Picked Third In 2013 MASCAC Pre-Season Coaches Poll, Receives First Place Vote

Massachusetts Maritime is picked to finish third in the inaugural season of play of Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference football this fall, as the league released the 2013 pre-season coaches poll earlier today.

Head Coach Jeremy Cameron’s Buccaneers collected 62 points, including one first place vote, in the poll of the conference’s nine head coaches, as 2012 New England Football Conference champion Framingham State took top honors with 77 points and seven first place votes.  Massachusetts Maritime returns 63 letterwinners and 16 starters from a squad that posted the program’s third straight winning campaign a year ago, as the Buccaneers have collected five victories in each of those seasons.

Bridgewater State came in second with 73 points that included the other first place vote, while Worcester State and Westfield State followed behind Massachusetts Maritime in fourth and fifth place, respectively, with 46 and 45 points.  Western Connecticut and Plymouth State were next in sixth and seventh place with 37 and 25 points, while Fitchburg State and UMass Dartmouth rounded out the poll in a tie for eighth place with 20 points each.

Massachusetts Maritime begins the 2013 season on Thursday, September 12th by hosting SUNY-Maritime in the Sixth Annual Chowder Bowl clash at Clean Harbors Stadium that kicks off at 7:00 p.m. EDT.
