Boyle Leads Women's Cross Country To Ninth Place Finish At CCRI Tri-State Invitational

LINCOLN, R.I. -- Senior Shavonne Boyle’s (Doylestown, Pa.) 69th place individual finish paced the Massachusetts Maritime women’s cross country team to a ninth place overall performance at the CCRI Tri-State Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
Boyle covered the 5K layout in a time of 24:26.28 for the Buccaneers, while sophomore Lexy Halpin (Plymouth, Mass.) followed in 80th place with a time of 25:03.44. Freshman Myat Smith (Sanford, Fla.) was next in 90th place with a time of 27:07.84 on the day, while sophomore Kaylene Murphy (Randolph, Mass.) and freshman Jaleni Rodriguez (Brandon, Fla.) rounded out Massachusetts Maritime’s scoring with respective 92nd and 97th place times of 27:48.08 and 30:56.69.
Bridgewater State took top honors in the team competition with a score of 37 points, while Salve Regina (49) and Roger Williams (86) followed in the respective runner-up and third place spots on the day.
Massachusetts Maritime heads to Westfield, Mass. next Saturday afternoon to compete at the Westfield State James Earley Invitational that begins at Noon.
