Crew Posts Second Straight Solid Performances On Lake Quinsigamond At Clark Regatta

WORCESTER, Mass. --  Both Massachusetts Maritime crew squads were in action for a second straight week on Lake Quinsigamond on Saturday afternoon, as the Buccaneers boated a pair of men’s varsity squads, a varsity women’s squad and a men’s novice tandem in action with Amherst, Assumption, Bowdoin, Connecticut College and host Clark.

The men’s varsity four consisting of freshman coxswain John Hubert (Trumbull, Conn.) along with juniors Josh Lamm (North Andover, Mass.), Matthew Mourey (Franklin, Mass.) and Devin McNeil (Westford, Mass.) as well as sophomore Alex Jagielski (Guilford, Conn.), placed fourth in the competition with a time of 7:30.8, while the women’s varsity four consisting of sophomore coxswain Michael Tisdale (Leominster, Mass.) along with juniors Alicia Tarr (Danvers, Mass.) and Lauren Denapoli (Boston, Mass.), sophomore Kelsie Brien (Methuen, Mass.) and freshman Jillian Stronk (Cheshire, Conn.), notched a time of 9:28.3 to record a sixth place finish.

The second men’s varsity four consisting of senior coxswain Juan Rivas (Dorchester, Mass.) along with senior Mark Brien (Methuen, Mass.), sophomores Maxwell Horton (Malden, Mass.) and Andrew MacDonald (Franklin, Mass.) as well as freshman Ryan Gilliland (Barnstable, Mass.), finished fifth with a time of 8:11.7, while the men’s novice four consisting of freshman coxswain Anthony Downs (West Roxbury, Mass.) along with senior Colin Giles (Brentwood, N.H.) and freshmen Paul Cullen (Gardner, Mass.), James Mattson (Marion, Mass.) and Joshua Leonardi (Sandwich, Mass.) posted a time of 8:16.7 to finish fourth.

Massachusetts Maritime closes out its Spring 2012 schedule next Saturday by competing at the New England Championships.
