Higgins and Boriolo Set Records in Corsair Classic

DARTMOUTH, Mass -- The Buccaneers track and field teams opened their season on Saturday at the Corsair Classic, hosted by UMass Dartmouth. During the meet, senior thrower Liam Higgins and runner Bridgette Boriolo set new records in the men's javelin and women's long jump.

Higgins won the javelin event with a throw of 66.81 meters, setting the new Maritime track and field program record, a personal best, and is the #2 javelin thrower in Division III. 

Boriolo set the Maritime track and field long jump record with a best jump of 4.34 meters.

Also on the men's side, Robert Kenny finished sixth in the 10,000 meter event, and Brennan Shea picked up a fifth place finish in the 110 meter hurdles. Spencer Reese finished fourth in the 3000 meter steeplechase for the Buccaneers with a time of 10:46.20. Timothy Heath was fifth in the long jump with a best of 6.10 meters.

For the women, Lorelei Lee finished sixth in the 3000 meter steeplchase, Boriolo was seventh in the triple jump.
