
Men's Lax Captures Norwich's Flag on Wednesday in Buzzards Bay
BUZZARDS BAY, Mass -- Bucs men's lacrosse hosted Norwich University in the annual rivalry game between the teams on Taylor's Point. After some pregame antics on Monday by Norwich, the Bucs buried the Cadets, 20-8. The Buccaneers had 12 different goal scorers in the game.

- Freshman Joe Vricella led all players with four goals in the game.

How It Happened
Norwich struck first in the first quarter on a goal from Fleury at 12:19. Maritime scored 30 seconds later on Vricella's first and proceeded to rattle off four unanswered throughout the remainder of the first quarter. Vricells scored again at 10:36, Kane scored on a powerplay at 7:08, and Mucha scored his first at 3:39 to give the Bucs a 4-1 lead at the end of one.
The second quarter was the highest scoring of the game with nine goals. Norwich started it off with a Mitchell McKay power play goal at 13:44. With the same penalty to the Bucs locked in, Kane scored with Maritime a man down at 13:33 to go up 5-2. The Bucs would score again at 11:24 and then immediately off the ensuing faceoff at 11:24 and then again off the next faceoff at 11:18 to go up five goals, 7-2. It took a little longer for the Buccaneers to get their next one, 28 seconds, but they scored a fourth unanswered from Barrett at 10:50 to make the score 8-2. Norwich broke up the party with two goals of their own at 8:25 and 5:26 to cut the deficit to four goals, 8-4. The Bucs closed out the first half with goals from LEander and Mucha to hit double digits and take a six goal, 10-4 lead going to the halftime break.
To open the third, Doig scored his first of the season to put the bucs up 11-4. Norwich got a goal from Matt Meehan less than a minute later to get back within six, 11-5. The Bucs scored two in a row from Barrett and Shanahan in less than a minute and extended the lead to 13-5. Fleury scored again for the Cadets at 4:30 and Mucha closed out the third with a Bucs goal at 4:09. Maritime led 14-6 at the end of three quarters of play.
In the fourth, The Bucs kept their foot on the gas scoring six more times. Vricella, Aguado-Scheyer, and Iversen on a powerplay, scored to go up 11 goals, 17-6. Tyler Seidel then scored for the guests to make it 17-7. Cameron and MacIver went down and scored for Maritime at 5:51 and 4:12 to make the score 19-7. Norwich got one more goal from Christian Rainis, their leading scorer, at 2:32 but the Bucs weren't done as they added one more from Donahue at 1:57 to complete the 20-8 win over the Cadets in Buzzards Bay.
