Allgaier and Maida Receive LEC All-Conference Honors

NORTH PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Thursday afternoon, the Little East Conference announced their 2022 Men's Lacrosse All-Conference Teams. In their first season of competition in the league, the Buccaneers received two All-LEC honors with Leo Allgaier and Mitchell Maida being selected to the Second Team.

Maida had an outstanding junior season for the Bucs, scoring 43 goals and tallying 33 assists for 76 total points. The junior attacker picked up 54 ground balls and caused 13 turnovers on the season. Maida had three five-goal games this season for the Bucs with five against Maine Maritime, Eastern Connecticut and in the Little East Conference Semifinals against UMass Boston. In the games against Maine Maritime and UMass Boston he recorded his highest points totals of the season with nine, boht games with five goals and four assists. This is Maida's first time receiving conference honors.

Allgaier was one of the top low defenders in the league having caused 36 turnovers and picking up 43 ground balls. In the Buccaneers 11-8 win over Johnson & Wales on March 22nd, Allgaier caused a career-high eight turnovers. He recorded his highest ground ball total in a9-6 loss early in the season against Curry with six pick ups. Leo also recorded a goal and an assist this season with his assist against Keene State and the goal coming in the team's regular season finale against Castleton on April 29th. This is Allgaier's first time receiving conference honors.

The Buccaneers finished the 2022 season with a record of 8-9 having won the first playoff game in program history and battling UMass Boston to the final minute in the conference semifinals.
