How It Happened
Though the Buccaneers won the time of possession battle in the game, Maritime was shutout on Saturday by the Corsairs. UMD opened the scoring with 5:08 left in the first quarter on a Jean two-yard run. The PAT was no good and the Corsairs led 6-0 at the end of the first.
In the second, Dartmouth scored early in the quarter and the Buccaneers blocked the PAT with Stephen McBrine getting into the Corsair backfield. The Corsairs led 12-0 with just over 10 minutes left in the first half. They took that 12-0 advantage to the halftime break.
UMD received the second half kickoff and scored on their first drive and converted the extra point to take a 19-0 lead with 13:06 left in the quarter. Later in the third quarter, Aponte ran the ball in from six yards out and DeMarco converted the PAT to put the Corsairs up 26-0.
The Dartmouth defense held the Bucs at bay through the fourth quarter and secured the shutout, 26-0, victory over Maritime.
