Nine Buccaneers Earn Spots On 2012 New England Football Conference All-Academic Team
Nine members of the Massachusetts Maritime football team have earned spots on the 2012 New England Football Conference All-Academic Team that was released earlier this morning by Roger Crosley, the NEFC’s Director of Media Relations. To qualify for selection, student-athletes must have completed three semesters at the same institution with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
Leading the way for Head Coach Jeremy Cameron’s squad is junior placekicker Brandon Rodrigues (Brockton, Mass./Brockton), who became the Academy’s first Capital One Academic All-America honoree in 30 years with his selection to the Division III national team last December. Rodrigues boasts a 3.95 cumulative GPA as a Marine Engineering major.
Massachusetts Maritime posted its third straight winning season under Cameron’s guidance last fall with a 5-4 mark, highlighted by wins over rivals Coast Guard and Maine Maritime. The Buccaneers placed 11 student-athletes on the NEFC All-Bogan Division squad and set 17 different school records on both sides of the ball while ranking among the national leaders in total offense throughout the year.
