Women's Crew Posts Solid Performance In Collegiate Fours At Head Of The Charles Regatta

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. --  The Massachusetts Maritime women’s crew team competed at the prestigious Head of the Charles Regatta on Saturday morning, as five Buccaneers participated in the world renown event for the first time in their careers in the collegiate fours.

 

Sophomore coxswain James Belbin (Carver, Mass.) was joined by fellow sophomores Cassie Swanson (Quincy, Mass.) in the 3-seat and Cassie Sanderson (North Dighton, Mass.) in the bow-seat as well as freshmen Sierra Taylor (Nashville, Tenn.) in the stroke and Madisen Buttner (Lakeville, Mass.) in the 2-seat.  Massachusetts Maritime posted a finishing time of 22:00.241 over the difficult course on the Charles River that was good for 33rd place overall.  Barry University took top honors in the event, while McGill and Georgia Tech finished in the respective runner-up and third place positions.

 

Both the Buccaneer men’s and women’s squads wrap up their respective fall schedules next Saturday morning at the Amherst Fall Invitational in South Hadley, Mass. beginning at 9:00 a.m.
