Experienced Cadre Of Returnees Looks To Lead Way For Women's Cross Country This Fall

An experienced cadre of veterans bodes well for the Massachusetts Maritime women’s cross country team in 2012, as veteran Head Coach Linda Letourneau welcomes back eight letterwinners that will look to lead the Buccaneers up the ladder of success in the always competitive Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference this season.  Letourneau’s crew will take on a schedule of five regular season invitationals leading up to the conference championship in late October.

The senior quartet of Sophie Enman (Marblehead, Mass./Marblehead), Kaylin Korejwa (Charlotte, Vt./Champlain Valley), Gretchen Kramer (Stafford, Va./Colonial Forge) and Corinne Prado (Raynham, Mass./Bridgewater-Raynham) will look to lead the Buccaneers this fall after the graduation of Massachusetts Maritime’s top performer from last year, Emily Burbank, who now serves as Letourneau’s assistant.  The junior trio of Lauren Bateman (Newbury, Mass./Newburyport), Liz Leonardi (Sandwich, Mass./Sandwich) and Jenelle Piche (Coventry, R.I./Coventry) joins the senior class to comprise a bevy of experience for the Bucs, who also welcome junior Kelsie Brien (Methuen, Mass./Methuen) this season.

Sophomores Kelsey Lombardi (Forestdale, Mass./Upper Cape Tech) and Kelci Sullivan (Hanson, Mass./Whitman-Hanson) look to contribute as well during their season campaigns for Massachusetts Maritime, which will also welcome a trio of newcomers in freshmen Siobhan O’Malley (Marshfield, Mass./Marshfield), Brooke Paulsen (Harwichport, Mass./Harwich) and Alicia Russo (Lexington, Mass./Lexington) to the fold.

Letourneau’s squad begins the 2012 season on Saturday, September 8th when Massachusetts Maritime hosts the Eighth Annual Lt. Travis J. Fuller Invitational on campus.
