Levesque Makes Eight Saves In Goal As Women's Soccer Drops 1-0 MASCAC Decision At Salem State

SALEM, Mass. --  Senior Kelly Birchmore’s (Swampscott, Mass.) unassisted goal in the 39th minute held up as the game-winner and lifted Salem State to a 1-0 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference women’s soccer victory over Massachusetts Maritime Saturday afternoon at Alumni Field.

 

Senior Rachel Ledbetter (Dracut, Mass.) made that margin stand up in goal for the host Vikings (4-6, 2-1 MASCAC), as she made a pair of saves to record her third triumph of the season in net.  Senior Katie Levesque (Wilmot, N.H.) made eight stops in the setback for the visiting Buccaneers (2-7, 0-3 MASCAC), as Salem State outshot Massachusetts Maritime by an 18-3 margin overall (9-2 on goal) and took three of the five corner kicks in the contest.

 

Massachusetts Maritime heads to Longmeadow, Mass. on Tuesday afternoon to take on Bay Path in a non-league match that begins at 4:00 p.m., while Salem State hosts Gordon in a non-league outing on Wednesday evening at Alumni Field beginning at 7:00 p.m.
