SALEM, Mass. --  Junior Bridget Dullea (Peabody, Mass.) netted four goals, while senior Kate Warren (Sandwich, Mass.) added a hat trick and three assists for six points to lead Salem State to a 20-9 New England Women’s Lacrosse Alliance victory over Massachusetts Maritime Thursday evening at Alumni Field.

The host Vikings (7-4, 4-2 NEWLA) scored six of the first seven goals of the contest over a 11-plus minute stretch, but the visiting Buccaneers (2-11, 1-6 NEWLA) closed that gap to three at 8-5 on senior Kerri Conway’s (West Springfield, Mass.) free position conversion with 11:45 to play in the half.  Salem State netted five of the final six goals before intermission, including two off the stick of senior Kaitlyn Shidler (Peabody, Mass.), to take a 13-6 advantage at the break, and after tallies by juniors Kim Courcy (Warwick, R.I.) and Sarah Derrane (Utica, N.Y.) enabled Massachusetts Maritime to close back to within 15-8 with just under 20 minutes remaining, the hosts scored five of the final six goals of the contest, including two by freshman Kristen Caso (Framingham, Mass.), to ice their triumph.

Shidler and Caso each added hat tricks and an assist for four points in the win for Salem State, which also received a pair of goals and three assists from freshman Kelsey Russell (Arlington, Mass.) to go with a pair of markers off the stick of sophomore Susan Reis (Burlington, Mass.).  Junior Kristin Cahoon (Reading, Mass.) chipped in with a goal and two assists for the Vikings, who also received a marker and helper from junior Lauren DeLuca (Salem, Mass.), a goal from sophomore Liz Kosak (Milton, Mass.) and an assist from sophomore Mic Boyer (South Hadley, Mass.).

Courcy finished with a hat trick in the setback for Massachusetts Maritime, which received two goals each from Conway and Derrane as well as single tallies off the sticks of senior Shauna Callinan (West Falmouth, Mass.) and sophomore Hillary Doucette (Manchester, Mass.).  Freshman Molly Blewett (Gloucester, Mass.) picked up the win in goal for Salem State with a seven-save effort, while freshman Tenley Gillett (Manchester, N.H.) made six stops in the setback for the Buccaneers as the Vikings outshot Massachusetts Maritime by a 36-23 margin while holding a 21-10 edge in draw controls on the evening.

Massachusetts Maritime heads to Weston, Mass. on Saturday afternoon to take on Regis in a non-league outing that begins at 12:30 p.m., while Salem State hosts Framingham State in a New England Women’s Lacrosse Alliance match on Saturday morning at Alumni Field beginning at 10:00 a.m.
