FITCHBURG, Mass. --  The Massachusetts Maritime outdoor track & field team enjoyed a solid day of competition on Saturday afternoon at the Fitchburg State Jim Sheehan Invitational, as the Buccaneers placed ninth on the men’s side and 14th on the women’s side among 17 teams entered in the field.

Junior Rory O’Donnell (Somerset, Mass.) placed second in the triple jump for Massachusetts Maritime with a mark of 13.47 meters, while sophomore Chris Sullo (Canton, Mass.) finished third in the high jump with a mark of 1.86 meters and was eighth in the triple jump in posting a mark of 12.36 meters.  Sophomore James Hutchinson (Pembroke, Mass.) notched an 11th place performance with a mark of 47.27 meters, while the Buccaneers placed fourth in the 4 X 800 relay and seventh in the 4 X 400 relay for the afternoon in finishing second among the four MASCAC schools competing in the invitational.

Junior Meredith Hall (Duxbury, Mass.) led the way once again on the women’s side for Massachusetts Maritime, as she placed fourth in the javelin with a mark of 31.10 meters.

Bates captured top team honors on both sides, with Wheaton finishing as the men’s runner-up and UMass Lowell taking second place honors on the women’s side.

Massachusetts Maritime returns to action next Saturday morning by heading to North Dartmouth, Mass. to compete in the UMass Dartmouth Corsair Classic that begins at 11:00 a.m.
