Sailing: Dinghy Team Qualifies for Shell Trophy

DURHAM, N.H. -- Over the weekend, the Buccaneer dinghy team competed in the Chris Loder Trophy at UNH. The Buccaneers entered two boats into the event and took home their best finish of the season, a third place spot, and an 11th place finish with their second boat.

The 15 teams took part in five races on Saturday and another five on Sunday. Salve Regina took home the first place finish with hosts UNH finishing second. The Buccaneers first boat finished third with 36 points. Maritime finished top five in eight of the 10 events with four second place finishes.

The Maritime B boat finished 11th ahead of Amherst College, both UMass Amherst boats and Middlebury. They finished with 112 points, one point ahead of the Amherst boat, and had two top 10 finishes with a seventh place and an eighth place finish in two events.

The third place finish qualifies the Bucs for the Dinghy New England Championships at the Shell Trophy.
