BUZZARDS BAY, Mass -- The Buccaneers welcomed Framingham State to Clean Harbors Stadium on a gorgeous Saturday afternoon for a conference matchup with the rams. The Buccaneers could not get the ball moving on offense and lost to FSU, 28-3.

• Quarterback Marc Murphy completed two of eight passes for 35 yards.
• Running Back Zach Proctor led the rushing attack with 54 yards on five carries including a 49 yard run up the middle.
• Chase Dombroski had 31 yards on the ground on four carries with a 28-yard scamper.
• Declan Van Nest caught one pass for 26 yards and Andrew Brightman caught a pass for nine yards.
• Defensively, Thomas Garland led all players with 10 tackles, six solo stops, and had 1.5 tackles for loss and a quarterback hurry.
• Kyle Stephens had the only sack for the Bucs defense to go along with two tackles for loss and three total tackles.
• Owen Shea recovered a fumble and had a half tackle for loss with five total tackles. 
• Demetri Boozer and Stephen McBrine each caused a fumble in the game.
• On special teams, freshman kicker James Mastroianni converted his first-career field goal from 22 yards for the only points of the game for Maritime.
• Logan Tsika punted five times for an average of 30.8 yards per punt.

Framingham

• Starting quarterback Elijah Nichols completed seven of 13 passes for 98 yards and a touchdown. Kyle Pena came in in relief and completed five of seven passes for 38 yards.
• Devaun Ford ran the ball 26 times for 134 yards and three scores in the win.
• Manny Lara led all receivers with 54 yards on four catches. Zylas Abney caught the only passing touchdown of the game and had one catch for 15 yards.
• On defense, Adeboye Oyaronbi led the Rams with seven total tackles, a tackle for loss and a pass break up.
• Jared Martino recorded three sacks in the game and Kymauny Roland had one sack. 
• On special teams, Matthew Farley converted all four of his extra point attempts.
• Gerald Neto punted once for 36 yards and pinned the Buccaneers inside their own 20 yard line.
• Moise Nazaire and Daniel Oloyede each blocked a punt in the game.

How It Happened

Neither team scored in the first quarter as the Bucs opened the game with a drive that ended in a punt. Framingham followed that up with a turnover on downs and then the next Bucs drive ended on a missed field goal attempt from 42 yards. Framingham got the ball back with 6:53 on the first quarter clock and as would become a theme of the game, the Rams milked the clock running out the clock in the quarter and the teams went to the second scoreless.

The Rams continued their long drive to start the second quarter and on third and goal from the Bucs four Ford ran the ball into the end zone for the touchdown. Farley converted the PAT and the Rams went up 7-0 to start the second. The Buccaneers punted on their ensuing possession and gave the ball back to the Rams after a short punt on a tip kick. Framingham proceeded to go 56 yards on eight plays and scored on a Nichols to Abney 25-yard touchdown pass. The PAT was good and the Rams went up 14-0. The Bucs returned the next kickoff to their own 26 yard line and finally got the ball moving on offense. The Bucs went 69 yards on nine plays which included a 28-yard run by Dombroski. Maritime was stalled at the Framingham 15 and Mastroianni came on and converted his first career field goal from 22 yards to cut the deficit to 11 points, 14-3. Framingham answered right away on their next drive. The went 64 yards on eight plays and Ford ran it in from one yard out for his second touchdown of the quarter. Framingham led 21-3, a lead they took into the half time break.

The Buccaneers opened the second half with an onside kick by Mastroianni and it was recovered by the Bucs but called back due to a penalty and the Rams took over on the Maritime 37 yard line. With a short field, the Rams drove 52 yards on five plays and Ford capped it off with a 16-yard touchdown run, his third of the game, and the Rams went up 28-3. They took their 25-point lead to the fourth quarter.

In the fourth, neither team found paydirt and the Framingham defense kept the Bucs off the board to earn the 28-3 win on Taylor's Point.
