Men's Track & Field Finishes Fourth at MASCACs
BRIDGEWATER, MA -- The Buccaneers men's track and field team competed at the MASCAC Championship meet on Saturday at Bridgewater state and finished fourth overall with a number of impressive individual performances.
In the shot put, Gerry Mackin finished second overall with a toss of 13.65 meters. Mackin was also the highest finisher in the discus for the Bucs finishing second with a throw of 39.32 meters.
Also in the discus, Chris Chaisson finished third with a throw of 39.27 meters. Joshua Rousseau also scored for the Bucs with a sixth place throw of 38.05 meters.
Rousseau also scored for Maritime in the javelin with a qualifying toss of 51.05 meters.
In the hammer throw, Chaisson picked up a fifth place finish at 41.38 meters.
The Buccaneers 4x100 relay team of Steven Westgate, Sean Gibson, Anthony Childs, and Ja'iel Johnson finished second with a time of 44.80, .51 seconds behind Westfield state.
Westgate scored in the 110 meter hurdles for the Bucs with a time of 17.08 seconds.
Anthony Childs placed second in the 400 meter dash behind a Westfield runner with a time of 51.48 seconds.
In the 4x800 meter relay, Maritime finished fourth, picking up four points for the team with a time of 9:16.98. That relay team was composed of Thomas Hayes, Samuel Grahl, Joshua Griffin, and Quintin Pease.
The 4x400 meter relay team finished third to pick up six points with a time of 3:40.48. Sean Donohue, Childs, Gibson, and Westgate ran that relay for the Bucs.
A number of Buccaneers will be on to the DIII Meet at Williams next weekend.
