Women's Track & Field: Bucs Finish Sixth as Two Break Records

WESTON, MA -- Maritime competed in their first of two meets this weekend at Regis College on Friday afternoon in the Regis Spring Classic. In a meet the Buccaneers have historically done well in they did not disappoint, finishing sixth overall and having two program record breaking performances from Alyssa Grieco and Cam Boyce.

In the women's 800 meter run, Grieco finished third overall, capturing six points for the Buccaneers. Her final time of 2:40.73 broke a Maritime program record that has stood for 15 years.

In the women's 1500 meter run, Lily Hakkarainen finished sixth picking up a point with a time of 5:33.53.

Boyce captured a third place finish and six points in the 5000 meter run and set the new school record, previously set in 2019 by Meaghan Hamilton, in the event with a time of 21:51.07.

To go along with her third place finish and record breaking performance in the 800, Grieco won the 100 meter hurdle event with a time of 17.83 second, .47 seconds ahead of the second place finisher. 

The team will travel to Fitchburg State on Saturday for the Jim Sheehan Invitational. Live stats of the events can be found at mmabucs.com
