2024 Buccaneers Softball Schedule Release

BUZZARDS BAY, Mass -- The Buccaneers softball team, coming off of their most successful season in program history last year, is ready for the 2024 season. In 2023, the Bucs qualified for the MASCAC postseason tournament for the first time in program history with a program-record 17 wins, 17-20 overall, and were 5-9 in conference, also a program record. The Bucs fell in the first round of the playoffs to Worcester State, 6-1, and immediately started preparing for the upcoming 2024 campaign. Fifth year head coach, and 2023 MASCAC Softball Coach of the Year, Will Griffiths has brought in a host of freshman to fill in spots around the diamond and has 10 players returning from last season including lone senior Carleen Harring, the reigning 2023 MASCAC Player and Rookie of the Year, Ab'c'de PataneErin Donlan who was named to the All-MASCAC Second Team last season, and Kelsey Booker, recipient of the NFCA All-New England Team along with Patane.

The Bucs will open their season on the road at St. Joseph (Conn) on Wednesday March 6th before returning home for eight-straight doubleheaders. They unofficially open their home slate against Central Maine Community College in an exhibition doubleheader then have their official home opener against Fisher College on March 12th. In the home stand the team will also play New England College and Rivier. 

The Bucs open conference play on March 22nd against Salem State on the road then have two non-conference doubleheaders against Norwich and Dean on the 23rd and 26th. On March 30th, Westfield State comes to town for the Bucs first home conference games which wraps up the March portion of the schedule.

In april, the Buccaneers open with Fisher College at home again and then are on the road for two weekend conference matchups against Fitchburg and Framingham on April 6th and 7th. They'll take on Dean again, this time on the road, on April 9th and then play their final home games in the month of April against MCLA on the 13th. To close out April, the Bucs will travel to Bridgewater for a conference matchup with the Bears and then a non-conference set of games against Regis in Weston, MA.

The regular season finishes in May with a non-conference doubleheader against Curry on the 1st and concludes with a rematch against the team that knocked them out of the playoffs last season, Worcester State, on May 3rd. 

MASCAC Playoffs begin the following week should the Buccaneers finish top six in the conference.
