How It Happened

Maritime was blanked in the first two frames as they got their legs underneath them in their first game of the season. The Hornets put up three runs in that time, plating three in the first.

In the third inning the Bucs came alive scoring four runs to take the lead at the time. The runs came on a Roberts-Capak single that scored Pope, a bases loaded walk of freshman Rubi Butler that scored Roberts-Capak, then a Harring single that brought home freshman Sicily DiDomenico and senior captain Malarie Pittsley. Lyndon answered with a run in the bottom of the inning to tie the game at 4-4.

The Buccaneers were blanked in the top of the fourth and in the bottom of the frame Lyndon took the lead back scoring four runs to take a 9-4 lead. They added a run to that lead in the bottom of the 5th on an Everett single, scoring Valentine.

the Bucs refused to go down easy and didn't quit as they plated three runs on a Kylie Deasy single and two more on a Roberts-Capak single, scoring Deasy and Harring. The Bottom of the 6th saw two more runs from the Hornets as they extender their lead to five, 12-7.

In the top of the 7th, Maritime threatened, loading the bases with one out. Ultimately, they were unable to bring any runs across and the Bucs fell 12-7 in their first game.
