Men's Lacrosse Beats Spartans on Senior Night
BUZZARDS BAY, Mass -- The Buccaneers played Castleton on Friday on Senior Night and their final regular season game of 2023. Already having locked up the five seed in the Little East Conference Playoff Tournament, the Bucs beat up on the Spartans winning 26-11.

How It Happened
Maritime scored the first two goals of the game in less than four minutes to go up 2-0. Castleton cut the Bucs lead in half at 8:08 making it 2-1. Maritime went on to score three in a row running the clock down to six minutes and taking a 5-1 lead. The Spartans came back with two of their own including a powerplay goal from Nalette to pull within two goals, 5-3, with 4:34 left in the quarter. The Bucs closed out the first with four goals in under a minute from 2:17 to 1:24 and led 9-3 after one.
In the second, Maritime extended their run to six unanswered with goals from Kane and Iversen to go up 11-3. Castleton sprinkled in a goal at 9:38 to make the score 11-4. Maritime scored at 7:21 and then scored again six minutes later at 1:56. The teams traded goals the remainder of the half with two from Castleton and two from the Bucs including a goal with 12 seconds left in the second from Kosiewicz. The Buccaneers led the Spartans 15-6 at the half.
Kosiewicz opened the second half with another goal at 10:17 and Schrier added one two minutes later making it 17-6. Castleton went on two score two unanswered to get within nine, 17-8. The Bucs closed out the third with three goals, two in the final minute, and led 20-8 at the end of the third quarter.
The Bucs scored three to open the fourth with two within 10 seconds of each other from Coolahan and Leander and led 23-8 with 11:47 left in the game. Castleton scored to make it 23-9 and Cameron scored for the Bucs with 7:58 to go back up 15, 24-9. Castleton netted two from Nalette in under a minute to get into double digits and trailed 24-11 with 6:46 remaining. Iversen scored again 22 seconds later and Cameron scored the final goal at 3:07 putting the final nail in to win 26-11.

The bucs are on to the LEC Playoffs and will play at Keene State on Tuesday, May 2nd. Start time is TBA.
