Men's Rowing Raises Nearly $3k in Sunday's Ergathon

Buzzards Bay, Mass -- On Sunday, September 18th, to close our the Academy's homecoming weekend, the men's crew team put together an ergathon under one of the tents on campus. All of the funds will go to new equipment, race fees and the teams Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) dues.

"Just as a walk-a-thon raises funds by collecting pledges for walking a set distance, an ergathon allows our rowers, to receive pledges for completing a set distance on a rowing machine, known as an "erg"." Said head men's rowing coach John Edwards.

Rower Matt White rowed 13k meters during the ergathon and raised over $500 for the program.

"We cannot thank everyone enough for coming out and supporting our rowers, our program and our ability to grow the sport at the Academy. I am proud of our student-athletes for the hard work and dedication they put in to this event and at practice every day." Added Coach Edwards.

The Bucs are planning to do the ergathon against next year on Homecoming Weekend with the hopes of doing it on Homecoming Saturday when the campus is buzzing with Cadets and Alumni.
