Baseball Get back to .500 with Saturday Sweep of the Rams
FRAMINGHAM, MA -- Buc Ball took on Framingham State on Saturday in the final two games of the three-game conference series between the Rams and Bucs. The Buccaneers, on the back of another solid Brodey Tinkham start, won the game 2-0. In game two

- Brett Velzis led the Bucs with two hits, including a double.
- AJ Pietrafesa, Aidan Henderson, Frank Aten, and Tucker Leslie each had hits as well.

- Of the six Rams hits, Ethan Moniz had three, Kennedy Wilson had two. Steven Burbank had the sixth.
- Moniz had the lone extra-base hit for Framingham.
- Ryan Boyle, Matt Shaver and Burbank each drew walks.
How It Happened
Another pitchers duel involving Tinkham took place in Framingham with Tinkham and Baiardi combining to blank the Rams.
The Buccaneers scored in the top of the third on a Schlapak ground out that brought Aten in to score.
In the sixth, Maritime added insurance, scoring their second run on a Henderson single to right that brought Velzis across the plate.
The Bucs took the first game of the doubleheader and the second game of the series to improve to 8-9 on the season, 1-1 in MASCAC play.

How It Happened
Looking to win the season series against the Rams, the Bucs scored first in game two of the day, game three of the series, on an Aidan Henderson ground out to third allowing Schlapak to score.
Maritime held their 1-0 lead until the bottom of the fourth when Boyle homered to tie the game at 1-1.
In the top of the fifth, the Bucs retook the lead and opened their lead to two runs. Schlapak single to bring in Doyle. Sylvia followed that with a single of his own to bring Leslie in to score. Maritime led 3-1 after five.
The Buccaneers scored three more in the top of the sixth, taking a commanding 6-1 lead over the Rams. A Tropea single, Luciano sacrifice fly and bases loaded walk of Sylvia scored the three runs.
With the game on the line in the bottom of the seventh, Framingham got a run back on a double steal that included an error to score Buontempo. Dean and the Buccaneer defense proceeded to shut down the inning and take the 6-1 win over the Rams.
The Bucs improve to 9-9 on the season and win the season series against the Rams 2-1. The team sits in third place in the MASCAC after the first weekend of conference play.
What's Next
The Buccaneers are back in action on Wednesday, April 6th against Wentworth in non-conference play. Come out to the game on Wednesday as there will be a food truck for all in attendance serving as an opportunity to raise money for the Buccaneer baseball team. It is also the "Lace Up For Cancer" game for the Bucs in which the team will wear special laces on their cleats to support the fight against cancer.
