WESTFIELD, Mass.-- Senior Kyle Ingersoll (Wakefield, Mass.) was the second MASCAC runner across the finish line in leading the Massachusetts Maritime men's cross country team to a solid eighth place team finish at the Westfield State James Earley Invitational Saturday morning at Stanley Park.

Ingersoll covered the 8K layout in a time of 27:21.18 to finish 16th individually for the Buccaneers, while freshman Jonathan Quigley (Braintree, Mass.) was next in 36th place with a time of 28:08.97. Sophomore Paul Matz (Plainville, Mass.) placed 43rd individually with a time of 28:18.85, while sophomore Patrick Dannaher (Arlington, Va.) and junior Matt Sturgis (Cummaquid, Mass.) rounded out the scoring for Massachusetts Maritime with times of 28:25.41 and 29:29.77, respectively, good for 47th and 70th places. The Buccaneers placed third among MASCAC competitors, as Trinity took top team accolades followed by Vassar and Gordon in second and third place, respectively.

On the women's side, seniors Patricia Malagrino (Barrington, R.I.) and Emily Rizzo (Milwaukee, Wis.) finished 55th and 57th, respectively, to lead Massachusetts Maritime to a 13th place team finish on the day, as Malagrino covered the 5K layout in a time of 22:17.84 and Rizzo posted a time of 22:25.22. Freshman Emily Burbank (Yarmouthport, Mass.) was next in 85th place with a time of 23:47.88, while junior Kaitlin O'Donnell (Damascus, Md.) and senior Rebecca Brow (Brick, N.J.) rounded out the Buccaneer scoring by placing 104th and 128th, respectively, with times of 25:14.88 and 28:26.38. Massachusetts Maritime placed third among MASCAC schools, as Carleton won the team competition followed by host Westfield State and Trinity, respectively.

Both Buccaneer squads will be idle until Saturday, October 25th when Massachusetts Maritime returns to Stanley Park for the 2008 Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference Championships hosted by Westfield State. The women's championship race begins at 11:00 a.m., followed by the men's championship race at Noon.
