WENHAM, Mass.-- Both Massachusetts Maritime cross country squads posted solid performances at the Gordon Pop Crowell Invitational on Saturday morning, as the Buccaneer men recorded a fifth place team finish of 24 entrants in the competition.

Senior Kyle Ingersoll (Wakefield, Mass.) led the way for Massachusetts Maritime by placing 23rd individually over the five mile layout with a time of 27:52, while sophomore Paul Matz (Plainville, Mass.) was next in 28th place with a time of 28:12. Freshman Jonathan Quigley (Braintree, Mass.) posted a time of 28:26 that was good for 40th place, while sophomore Patrick Dannaher (Arlington, Va.) and junior Matt Sturgis (Cummaquid, Mass.) rounded out the top five scorers for the Buccaneers with times of 29:03 and 29:23 that were good for 58th and 60th place, respectively, on the afternoon.

On the women's side, junior Lauren Fograshy (Monson, Mass.) continued her solid campaign by posting a time of 21:47 over the 3.1 mile layout in leading Massachusetts Maritime to a 16th place team standing among 25 entrants. Senior Emily Rizzo (Milwaukee, Wis.) was next in 98th place with a time of 22:03, while freshman Emily Burbank (Yarmouthport, Mass.) posted a time of 22:06 that was good for 101st place. Senior Patricia Malagrino (Barrington, R.I.) and junior Kaitlin O'Donnell (Damascus, Md.) rounded out the scoring for the Buccaneers with times of 22:09 and 24:05 to finish 103rd and 174th, respectively.

Both Massachusetts Maritime teams head to Westfield, Mass. next Saturday morning to compete at the Westfield State James Early Invitational that begins at 11:00 a.m.
