BOSTON, Mass – The Bucs travelled to Fisher College Friday night for a non-conference matchup with the Falcons coming off of a conference win at home on Tuesday night. Though the Bucs took the first set, the Falcons won the next three sets to take the 3-1 victory over Maritime.

Marie Harrison (Weymouth, Mass) led the Buccaneers attack with a team high eight kills. She added two service aces offensively and nine digs defensively. Just 40 digs away from 1,000 career digs going in to the night, as a junior, Christina Ruggeri (Bourne, Mass) tallied 24 digs in the match the lead both teams in the category. Offensively, Ruggeri had a team high three service aces in the match. Junior, Michelle Sheehan (Attleboro, Mass) racked up 16 assists to lead the Bucs, adding three kills and a service ace. Tegan Murray (Newbury, Mass), Mary Booth (Foxboro, Mass), and Madison Coughlin (Monroe, Conn) each added four kills apiece for the visitors.

For Fisher, Chyna Carter led the match with 13 kills. Yeryvel Catala was right behind her with 10 kills of her own. Lia Aime led the match with 24 assists for the Falcons, adding four service aces. Leading the way with six service assists was Natie Manalo.

The Buccaneers won three straight sets to win their first match of the season back on Tuesday night at home. They kept their straight set streak going to four, taking the first set against Fisher tonight by a score of 25-16.

Behind by a set, Fisher came alive in the second set, jumping out to a quick 3-0 lead and eventually extended that lead out to 14 and they led 20-6 late in the set. Maritime would score six points to Fisher's five but that five was all the Falcons need to tie the match at 1-1 with the 25-11 win.

 The third set was more of the same with Fisher charging out to a quick lead and never looking back, leading by eight, 17-9, at one point. The Bucs did come back in the set, cutting the deficit to 23-17, but it wasn't enough and Maritime fell behind two sets to one with the Falcons taking the third set 25-18.

In what ended up being the deciding set, the Buccaneers once again, showed glimpses of their performance from Tuesday evening, keeping the score close right down to the end. With the set tied at 18-18, Fisher shut down any chance of another Buccaneer comeback, scoring seven straight points to take the set, 25-18, and the match, 3-1.

With the loss, Maritime falls to 1-15 on the season, remaining at 1-3 in conference.

Next up for the Bucs is a trip to Westfield State tomorrow for a MASCAC match with the Owls that begins at 12pm.
