Taylor Named As MASCAC Women's Soccer Player Of The Week

Massachusetts Maritime junior forward Madison Taylor was named as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Women’s Soccer Player of the Week on Monday afternoon for her efforts in the Buccaneers’ 2-1 league triumph over MCLA last Friday evening at Clean Harbors Stadium.

A native of Longmeadow, Mass. and a graduate of Longmeadow High School, Taylor tallied both goals, including the eventual game-winner with 5:26 remaining in the first half, to enable Massachusetts Maritime to end a 65-match MASCAC winless streak that dated back to September 2008.  In the process, Madison set both the school single-season and career records for goals (12, 26) and points (25, 58) in just her 38th career match, as Friday’s performance was her fourth multi-goal game of the season.

Taylor, who ranks ninth in goals per game, 10th in points per game, 17th in total goals and 25th in total points nationally in NCAA Division III play, also tied the school single-game record with four goals in a 7-0 victory at Anna Maria on September 19th.  Madison, who serves as a co-captain for first year Head Coach Yvonna Press’s squad, has notched eight multi-goal matches overall in her career, including two each in her freshman and sophomore campaigns.

Massachusetts Maritime, which stands at 3-4 overall, hits the road for a non-league match in Taylor’s hometown on Tuesday afternoon, as the Buccaneers battle Bay Path at 4:00 p.m. EDT in Longmeadow.
