Coffey Named As MASCAC Women's Soccer Rookie Of The Week Following First Collegiate Victory Over Weekend

Massachusetts Maritime freshman goalkeeper Sara Coffey was named as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Women’s Soccer Rookie of the Week on Monday afternoon for her efforts in a pair of matches for the Buccaneers last week.

A native of Norton, Mass. and a graduate of Coyle-Cassidy High School, Coffey earned her first collegiate victory and shutout with an eight save effort in last Saturday’s 2-0 non-league triumph over Anna Maria at Clean Harbors Stadium.  The win was Massachusetts Maritime’s first in four series meetings with the Amcats, as she made six of those stops in the opening 45 minutes of action alone.  Additionally, Sara made six saves in her first career contest last Thursday in a setback at Becker.

Head Coach Ray Cabral’s Buccaneers take a 1-1 overall mark into a non-league match Tuesday afternoon in Nashua, N.H. against Daniel Webster that begins at 3:30 p.m. EDT.
