FINAL:              MASSACHUSETTS MARITIME 2, ANNA MARIA 0

BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. --  Senior Aoife Callinan (West Falmouth, Mass.) netted a goal and an assist to lead Massachusetts Maritime to a 2-0 non-league college women’s soccer victory over Anna Maria Saturday afternoon at Clean Harbors Stadium.

The host Buccaneers (1-1) got the only goal they would need just 6:37 after intermission when sophomore Madison Taylor (Longmeadow, Mass.) netted her first marker of the fall on pass in front of the net from Callinan, who then provided an insurance tally in the 66th minute of play by converting a breakaway on an over-the-top feed from fellow senior Mackenzie Wilson (Plymouth, Mass.).  Freshman Sara Coffey (Norton, Mass.) made that stand up with eight saves, including six in a scoreless opening 45 minutes of action, to notch her first collegiate triumph and shutout in goal for Massachusetts Maritime.

Junior Kate Kneeland (Windham, Maine) made 12 stops in the setback for the visiting Amcats (1-1), as the Buccaneers outshot Anna Maria by a 21-12 margin overall (14-8 on goal) while holding an 8-4 advantage in corner kicks for the contest.  The victory was Massachusetts Maritime’s first in four series meetings with the Amcats, who had won a pair and forged a scoreless tie in the three previous match-ups dating back to 2013.

Massachusetts Maritime heads to Nashua, N.H. on Tuesday afternoon to take on Daniel Webster in a non-league outing that begins at 3:30 p.m., while Anna Maria hosts Newbury in a non-league match on Thursday evening in Paxton, Mass. beginning at 6:30 p.m.
