FINAL:              FRAMINGHAM STATE 5, MASSACHUSETTS MARITIME 0

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. --  Junior Marisa Parent (Revere, Mass.) netted a pair of goals to lead Framingham State to a 5-0 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference women’s soccer victory over Massachusetts Maritime Saturday afternoon at Maple Street Field.

The host Rams (11-1-1, 5-0-1 MASCAC), who clinched a bye into the upcoming conference semi-finals, grabbed a 2-0 advantage in the opening 24:38 of play on markers by Parent and senior Kayla Austin (Winchester, Mass.), and junior Melissa Higgins (Waltham, Mass.) extended that margin to 3-0 in the 56th minute on a corner kick conversion.  Parent converted an Austin feed in the 70th minute for her second tally of the day, and freshman Alisa Georgio’s (West Greenwich, R.I.) goal with 52 seconds remaining in the match sealed Framingham State’s triumph.

Freshmen Tess Gorman (Swampscott, Mass.), Michaela Hyland (East Longmeadow, Mass.) and Elizabeth Foy (East Bridgewater, Mass.) each collected assists in the win for the Rams, as sophomore Sara Sullivan (Quincy, Mass.) made one save to notch her eighth triumph of the season in goal.  Sophomore Katie Levesque (Wilmot, N.H.) made 17 stops in the setback for the visiting Buccaneers (4-7-3, 0-6 MASCAC), as Framingham State outshot Massachusetts Maritime by a 42-3 margin and took all 10 corners on the afternoon.

Massachusetts Maritime will be idle until next Saturday afternoon when the Buccaneers host MCLA in their Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference finale at Clean Harbors Stadium beginning at 1:00 p.m., while Framingham State heads to Newton, Mass. on Tuesday afternoon to take on Mount Ida in a non-league match that begins at 3:30 p.m.
