BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. --  Sophomore Ashlee Scofield’s (Averill Park, N.Y.) goal 14-plus minutes into play held up as the game-winner and lifted MCLA to a 1-0 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference women’s soccer victory over Massachusetts Maritime Saturday afternoon at Clean Harbors Stadium.

Scofield converted a feed from fellow sophomore Janelle Stannard (Valley Falls, N.Y.) for her second marker of the season for the visiting Trailblazers (3-4, 1-1 MASCAC), and sophomore Danielle Heinsohn (Norfolk, Mass.) made that stand up in goal for MCLA, as she made five saves, including four in the opening 45 minutes of action, to record her second straight shutout triumph.

Freshman Katie Levesque (Wilmot, N.H.) made 10 stops in net in the setback for the host Buccaneers (0-5, 0-2 MASCAC), including seven after intermission that featured three-point blank saves in the final 10 minutes of play.  MCLA outshot Massachusetts Maritime by a 17-6 margin for the match, though the Buccaneers held a 7-5 edge in corners on the day.

Massachusetts Maritime hosts Wheelock in a non-league outing on Tuesday evening at Clean Harbors Stadium beginning at 7:00 p.m., while MCLA travels to Annandale-on-Hudson, N.Y. on Tuesday afternoon to take on Bard in a non-league match that begins at 5:00 p.m.
