CAMBRIDGE, Mass. --  Junior Veronica Halen (San Diego, Calif.) netted a pair of goals in the final 30 minutes of play to lead Lesley to a 2-0 non-league college women’s soccer victory over Massachusetts Maritime Saturday afternoon at Edward Field.

After the two teams played a scoreless opening 45 minutes of action, Halen gave the host Lynx (4-0) the only goal they would need in the 61st minute after converting a feed from sophomore Alexis Giusti (Meridian, Calif.), and she added an insurance tally with 3:28 to play after converting passes from senior Kate Ryder (Glastonbury, Conn.) and junior Sarah Apgar (Andover, N.J.) to account for the final score.

Freshman Jackie Berard (Coventry, R.I.) picked up the win in goal without having to make a second half save for Lesley, which received one stop in the opening half from junior Victoria Ellis (Laguna Beach, Calif.).  Freshman Katie Levesque (Wilmot, N.H.) made 12 saves in net, including seven after intermission, in the setback for the visiting Buccaneers (0-2), as the Lynx recorded 27 of the 28 shots on goal for the contest.

Massachusetts Maritime hosts Regis in a non-league outing on Wednesday evening at Clean Harbors Stadium beginning at 7:00 p.m., while Lesley entertains Maine-Farmington in a non-league contest on Sunday afternoon at Edward Field that begins at 1:00 p.m.
