BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. --  Sophomore Emily Lane (Parsonsfield, Maine) netted a hat trick in the opening 12-plus minutes of play to lead Bridgewater State to a 4-0 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference women’s soccer victory over Massachusetts Maritime Friday evening at Clean Harbors Stadium.

Lane gave the visiting Bears (7-7-2, 3-1-1 MASCAC) the only tally they would need 2:14 into the contest when she converted a feed from freshman Mackenzie Hatfield (Whitman, Mass.) on a breakaway, and she completed her hat trick to run her goals total to six on the season in a 1:39 span on assists from junior Megan O’Leary (Whitman, Mass.) in the 11th and 13th minutes of action.  Bridgewater State’s other marker of the evening came on an own goal just 4:55 after intermission to account for the final score.

Junior Kerry Condon (Whitman, Mass.) picked up the win in goal for the Bears with one first-half save, while senior Kristen Rowe (Burlington, Mass.) made a single stop in the final 45 minutes of action for the visitors.  Freshman Katie Levesque (Wilmot, N.H.) made 14 saves in the setback for the host Buccaneers (2-9, 0-5 MASCAC), as Bridgewater State outshot Massachusetts Maritime by a 25-3 margin while taking all seven corner kicks in the contest.

Massachusetts Maritime heads to Milton, Mass. on Monday afternoon to take on Curry in a non-league outing that begins at 5:30 p.m., while Bridgewater State hosts MCLA in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference match next Saturday, October 20th in Bridgewater, Mass. beginning at 4:00 p.m.
