BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. --  Sophomore Samantha Easterman (Amityville, N.Y.) netted a hat trick and an assist to lead New York Maritime to a 4-0 non-league college women's soccer victory over Massachusetts Maritime Wednesday evening at Clean Harbors Stadium.

Easterman gave the visiting Privateers (8-9-1) the only goal they would need 18:47 into the match when she converted a feed from freshman Meghan Burke (Staten Island, N.Y.), and she then set up junior Kelly Swedalla's (Huntington Station, N.Y.) marker at the 33 minute mark to extend the visitors' advantage to 2-0.  Easterman's second goal of the night on a deflection from freshman Jorrie Trenkamp (Tabernacle, N.J.) gave New York Maritime a 3-0 edge at the break, and she completed her hat trick with an unassisted tally 5:05 after intermission to close out the scoring for the contest.

Freshman Courtney Marietta (Grantville, Pa.) picked up her eighth win and fifth shutout of the season with 15 saves in goal for New York Maritime, including three point blank shots midway through the first half alone, while freshman Rachel Johnson (South Chatham, Mass.) made eight stops in net in the setback for the host Buccaneers (0-15), who held a season-high 20-18 edge in shots over the Privateers for the match, including 14 in the first 45 minutes of action alone.

Massachusetts Maritime closes out the 2009 season on Saturday afternoon by heading to Bridgewater, Mass. to take on Bridgewater State in a Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference match that begins at Noon, while New York Maritime travels to Albany, N.Y. for its Skyline Conference regular season finale against Sage that begins at 1:00 p.m.
