BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Seniors Jacklyn Wisocky (Brockton, Mass.) and Ashley Hersey (Newburyport, Mass.) each scored a pair of goals, while junior Amanda Vigneault (Ludlow, Mass.) and sophomore Jordan McDermott (East Bridgewater, Mass.) each netted a goal and two assists to lead Bridgewater State to a 10-0 Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference women's soccer victory over Massachusetts Maritime Saturday afternoon at Swenson Field.
The host Bears (8-7-2, 3-3-1 MASCAC) tallied seven times in the opening 33:55 minutes of action to take control of the contest, as senior Christine Soucy (Rockland, Mass.) and junior Kristina Ortiz (Dedham, Mass.) each collected a goal and an assist for the winners, who also received markers from junior Maura Kotowski (Saugus, Mass.) and sophomore Amber LaPorte (New Hartford, Conn.) as well as helpers from sophomore Kylie Beaton (Epsom, N.H.) and freshman Molly Copeland (North Falmouth, Mass.).
Junior Kayla Grover (Haverhill, Mass.) picked up the win in goal without making a save for Bridgewater State, while freshman Rachel Johnson (South Chatham, Mass.) made four stops in the season-ending setback for the visiting Buccaneers (0-16, 0-7 MASCAC) as the Bears had all 27 shots for the contest.
Bridgewater State will await word of a possible berth in next week's MASCAC Championships, as the Bears could be seeded fourth in the tournament.
