NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. --  The Massachusetts Maritime enjoyed another solid day of competition on Saturday afternoon at the non-scoring UMass Dartmouth Corsair Classic, as the Buccaneers recorded seven top 10 performances in rainy conditions.

 

Senior Bryce MacAndrew (Warwick, R.I.) finished third in the discus with a mark of 37.43 meters/122 feet, 10 inches, while freshman Nathaniel Decker (Bellbrook, Ohio) also recorded a third place finish in the 3,000 meter steeplechase with a time of 11:43.88.  Junior Meghan Brain (Hanson, Mass.) posted a fifth place finish in the javelin (30.94 meters/101 feet, 6 inches) for Massachusetts Maritime, which also received a seventh place performance in the discus from sophomore Mitch Conroy (Brooklyn, Conn.) of 32.89 meters/107 feet, 11 inches).

 

Sophomores Ian Chester (Rockland, Mass.) and Joseph Carey (Pembroke, Mass.) recorded respective eighth (41.00 meters/134 feet, 6 inches) and 10th (36.22 meters/118 feet, 10 inches) in the javelin for the Buccaneers, which also received a sixth place finish the 4 x 100 meter relay of 49.01 seconds from the quartet of Chester, senior Peter Schultz (Wilbraham, Mass.), sophomore Joe Eastman (Hanover, Mass.) and freshman Cal Garufo (Winthrop, Mass.).

 

Massachusetts Maritime returns to action in two weeks by heading to New London, Conn. on Saturday, April 16th to participate in the Connecticut College Silfen Invitational that begins at 10:00 a.m.
