Bridgewater State Bears Invitational

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. --  The Massachusetts Maritime outdoor track & field team began its 2014 season on Saturday afternoon with competition at the non-scoring Bridgewater State Bears Invitational that took place at Swenson Track.

Junior Zachary Poh (Bridgewater, Mass.) recorded a pair of top five finishes on the day for the Buccaneers, as he placed third in the discus (41.74 meters) and fifth in the hammer throw (36.32 meters), while senior Ted Mello (Acushnet, Mass.) added a fifth place performance in the triple jump (11.75 meters) and a ninth place effort in the long jump (5.62 meters).  Sophomore Bryce MacAndrew (Warwick, R.I.) finished fourth in the hammer throw (37.67 meters) for Massachusetts Maritime, which also received a 10^th place performance in the javelin (43.22 meters) from freshman Peter Hamill (Norton, Mass.).  Additionally, the Buccaneer 4 x 100 relay team recorded a fifth place finish in the event with a time of 46.85 seconds.

Freshman Meaghan Brain (Hanson, Mass.) notched a 15^th place finish in the javelin with a mark of 28.79 meters, while junior Danielle Soar (Templeton, Mass.) placed 17^th in the hammer throw with a mark of 26.91 meters.

Massachusetts Maritime heads to Medford, Mass. next Saturday morning to compete in the Tufts Snowflake Invitational that begins at 10:00 a.m.
