Maritime Swept by Bulldogs in Road Home Games

BUZZARDS BAY, Mass – Originally, the double header between Mass Maritime and Dean College was to be played in Franklin, Mass at Dean College. Instead, the teams switched sites to Mass Maritime but Dean still acted as the home team. In their unofficial home opener, the Bucs fell in straight game to the Bulldogs, 10-2 and 10-1.

Game One

How It Happened

Maritime started off hot, as they have in their past few games, taking an early 2-0 lead over Dean in the first inning on a throwing error that scored Lucia Buzzell (Quincy, Mass) and a Rachel Gardner (Bourne, Mass) single to bring home Malarie Pittsley (Dighton, Mass). Dean answered and then some in their half of the first, scoring six runs to take a 6-2 lead after one.

Maritime would be held at bay the remainder of game one while Dean scored four more times. Twice in the second, again in the third on a Miranda Seacord home run, and once more in the fifth, the run that won them the game by mercy rule, 10-2.
