BOSTON, Mass. --  Sophomore Julia Levins (Uxbridge, Mass.) tossed a five-inning no-hitter and struck out eight to lead Emmanuel to an 11-0 non-league college softball victory over Massachusetts Maritime Tuesday evening at Roberto Clemente Field.

Sophomore Kayla Howard (Belmont, N.H.) gave the host Saints (5-24) all the run support they would need when she belted a three-run homer in the bottom of the first, and junior Laura Benvenuto (Wyckoff, N.J.) extended that margin to 6-0 in the second with a three-run round-tripper of her own.  Emmanuel added four more tallies in the third on RBI singles by Levins and freshman Catherine Bergeron (Sandwich, Mass.) as well as Benvenuto’s run-scoring groundout, and the hosts closed out their scoring in the fourth when junior Jackie Murray (Saugus, Mass.) drew a bases loaded walk.

Sophomore Jennifer Garrity (Lynn, Mass.) collected two of Emmanuel’s eight hits in support of Levins, who walked a pair in facing two batters over the minimum to record her second victory of the spring.  Sophomore Jennifer March (Pawtucket, R.I.) went the distance inside the circle in the setback for the visiting Buccaneers (2-13), as she struck out four on the evening.

Massachusetts Maritime will be idle until next Monday when the Buccaneers host Fitchburg State in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader at Alison Rollins Field beginning at Noon, while Emmanuel heads to New Haven, Conn. on Friday afternoon to take on Albertus Magnus in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference twinbill that begins at 3:00 p.m.
