NORTH ADAMS, Mass. --  Freshman Megan Boyer (Clarksburg, Mass.) rapped out four hits and drove in four runs to lead MCLA to a sweep of a Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference softball doubleheader from Massachusetts Maritime by scores of 8-0 in the opener and 15-2 in the nightcap in games played Saturday afternoon at Joe Zavattaro Field.

Sophomore Hadley Ameen (North Adams, Mass.) tossed a complete-game one-hit shutout in the opener for the host Trailblazers (8-10, 2-2 MASCAC), who were held to a pair of singles by Boyer and junior Kate Ouellette (Norwood, Mass.) but took advantage of 11 walks issued.  Boyer drove in a pair in the opening contest for MCLA, which also received an RBI from sophomore Amber Coburn (Colrain, Mass.) in support of Ameen, who walked one and struck out seven to pick up her fifth win of the spring.  Freshman Meghan Thibeault (Scituate, Mass.) rapped out a fourth inning single for the visiting Buccaneers (2-8, 0-4 MASCAC), as freshman Janelle Beaulieu (Buzzards Bay, Mass.) went the distance in allowing just five earned runs and two hits while fanning four.

The Trailblazers jumped out to a 9-2 advantage through two innings of action in the nightcap en route to completing the sweep, as sophomore Kayla Koumjian’s (Watervliet, N.Y.) three-run homer capped a six-run second inning rally for the hosts.  Koumjian collected a pair of hits and finished with four RBI in the second game triumph for MCLA, which also received two hits and a pair of RBI each from Boyer and freshman Sarah Greenwood (Northfield, Mass.), who scattered four hits and allowed one earned run while fanning three inside the circle.  Junior Jaclyn Candelet (Pittsfield, Mass.) also rapped out two hits for the Trailblazers in the nightcap, which also received a pair of RBI from Ouellette.  Beaulieu recorded two hits in the nightcap setback for Massachusetts Maritime, including a first inning RBI single that staked the Buccaneers to an early advantage, while senior Jess O’Meara (Stoneham, Mass.) and freshman Rachel Johnson (South Chatham, Mass.) also notched singles for the visitors.  Sophomore Holly McLaughlin (Belmont, Mass.) made her first collegiate start inside the circle for the Buccaneers, as she struck out one over four innings of work.

Massachusetts Maritime heads to Boston on Wednesday afternoon to take on UMass Boston in a non-league doubleheader that begins at 3:30 p.m., while MCLA hosts WPI in a non-league twinbill on Monday afternoon at Joe Zavattaro Field that begins at 3:30 p.m.
