FALMOUTH, Mass. -- The Massachusetts Maritime offshore sailing team began its fall schedule by taking posting a third place finish in the Quissett Round-The-Bay Regatta Saturday afternoon in beautiful conditions on Buzzards Bay.
Sailing in the vessel Cepheus, the Buccaneers took advantage of a breeze of 8-13 knots in fall-like conditions. Massachusetts Maritime’s crew, led by juniors McKenna Jarvis (Dedham, Mass.) and Evan Bowen (North Kingstown, R.I.), topped eight other boats in the competition, which was won by the vessel Sterling.
The Buccaneer offshore squad will travel to Annapolis, Md. this weekend to participate in the prestigious Navy Shields Trophy Regatta that begins Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m.
