BOSTON, Mass. -- The Massachusetts Maritime dinghy sailing team recorded a pair of top 16 performances over the weekend at the Boston College Central Series Six and Northeastern Oberg Trophy Regattas.
At Boston College, the Buccaneers were represented by freshmen Andrew Morrison (Wakefield, R.I.) and Rachel McKeown (Etowah, Tenn.) in the “A” boat and by fellow freshmen Maeve Glancy (Scituate, Mass.) and Thomas Dunn (Newport, R.I.) in the “B” vessel. Massachusetts Maritime placed 15th overall in the event, which was won by Boston University with a score of 113 points. Tufts captured the runner-up spot with 124 points, while Brown followed in third place with 130 points.
Three divisions of sailors competed at Northeastern over the weekend, as sophomore Megan Laurie (North Weymouth, Mass.) and freshman Christos Karplus (Falmouth, Mass.) sailed in the Buccaneer “A” boat. Sophomore Alex Bowen (North Kingstown, R.I.) and freshman Sydney Clays (Westerly, R.I.) comprised the “B” tandem for Massachusetts Maritime, while junior Braden Foster (Trumbull, Conn.) and sophomore Maya Stephani (Chicago, Ill.) were in the “C” vessel. The Buccaneers posted a 16th place finish in the event, which was hampered by light winds throughout the weekend. Dartmouth took top honors with 145 points, while Tufts and Harvard followed in the runner-up and third place spots.
Massachusetts Maritime will compete at the MIT Schell Trophy Regatta on the Charles River next weekend beginning at 9:30 a.m.
