Cross Country finishes 10th and 11th at Pop Crowell Invitational

WENHAM, Mass – The men's and women's cross country teams competed in the Pop Crowell Invitational 6k meet hosted by Gordon College on Saturday afternoon on Massachusetts's north shore. Of the 17 teams that competed on the men's side, Maritime finished in the middle of the pack in 10th place. The women's team followed close behind, finishing 11th out of the 16 teams that ran.

For the men, Daniel Plumb (Hopkinton, Mass) posted the best Buccaneers finish with a time of 28:55, averaging 5:49.1 per mile, which was good 22nd place. The other men's Maritime runners finished outside the top 50. Kyle Hansen (North Chelmsford, Mass) had the second best MMA finish in 58th place with a time of 30:51.5. There were a total of 140 runners in the men's race.

On the women's side of the race, their 312 points was good for 11th. Camryn Boyce (Whitman, Mass) had the best finish for Maritime in 49th place with a time of 26:41.9. Sarah Smialek (Dartmouth, Mass) finished close behind, in 53rd, with a time of 26:49.6. There were a total of 152 runners in the women's race.

Both the men's and women's cross country teams will race next weekend at Massachusetts Maritime Academy in the annual Travis Fuller Invitational. The women's race will begin at 4pm with the men beginning at 4:30.
