Taylor Named As MASCAC Men's Soccer Player Of The Week

Massachusetts Maritime sophomore forward William Taylor was named as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Player of the Week on Monday morning for his efforts in the Buccaneers’ 2-0 league victory at Framingham State Sunday evening.

Taylor, a native of Hanover, Mass. and a graduate of Hanover High School, assisted on the game-winning tally and added an insurance marker in the 58th minute of play to record his first career multiple-point performance.  William ranks second on Massachusetts Maritime’s scoring list with four goals and three assists for 11 points to date, as his squad moved into sole possession of first place in the MASCAC standings with last night’s triumph.

Taylor is the second Buccaneer to earn MASCAC Player of the Week accolades this season, as junior goalie Mike Pruchnik (Rochester, Mass./Old Rochester) also copped the honor back on September 19th after making 10 saves in a 1-0 win at Worcester State.

Head Coach Greg Perry’s crew, which stands at 7-7-1 overall, has a one point lead over second place Worcester State and a three point edge over both MCLA and Bridgewater State heading into the final weekend of conference play, as Massachusetts Maritime’s final MASCAC clash of the fall takes place Saturday afternoon at Westfield State.  The Buccaneers close out their regular season home slate on Wednesday evening by entertaining 16th-ranked UMass Boston in a non-league match at Clean Harbors Stadium that begins at 7:00 p.m. EDT.
