A school-record six members of the Massachusetts Maritime men’s soccer squad were named on Wednesday to the 2016 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference all-conference team in a vote of the league’s coaches.

Senior Matthew McDonough (Framingham, Mass./Framingham) and junior Mick Rouette (Three Rivers, Mass./Monson), earned spots on the first team all-conference squad as backs after anchoring a Buccaneer defensive unit that allowed just five goals in seven league matches played this fall.  Rouette earned his third straight first team all-MASCAC accolade and chipped in with three goals and an assist for seven points on offense, while McDonough collected his third straight all-league honor after being named to the all-MASCAC second team in each of the last two campaigns. 

Senior Scott Matoian (Mashpee, Mass./Mashpee) completes Massachusetts Maritime’s all-conference backfield trio after earning second team all-MASCAC honors, as he added a goal and assist for three points during regular season play on the offensive side as well.  Junior goalie Mike Pruchnik (Rochester, Mass./Old Rochester) also collected second team all-conference honors for the Buccaneers, as he posted six wins, a 1.47 goals against average and 84 saves for an .800 saves percentage during the regular season.  Pruchnik, who was tabbed as the MASCAC Player of the Week on September 19^th, recorded a pair of shutouts in over 1,284 minutes played in net.  Sophomore Brendan Gawron (Braintree, Mass./Braintree) and freshman Adam Crawford (Kingston, Mass./Silver Lake) round out Massachusetts Maritime’s representation on the second team all-MASCAC squad at the midfield position, as Gawron led the Buccaneer regular season scoring parade with seven goals and 14 points while Crawford added a pair of tallies and three assists for seven points during his inaugural collegiate campaign.  Crawford was the MASCAC’s Rookie of the Week back on September 12^th and has started all 17 contests to date.

Massachusetts Maritime has earned its fourth straight post-season berth under veteran Head Coach Greg Perry, as the Buccaneers are seeded second in the MASCAC Championships and will host sixth-seeded Fitchburg State in a conference semifinal clash on Friday evening at Clean Harbors Stadium beginning at 7:00 p.m. EDT.  Perry guided his crew to seven regular season victories to go with a pair of ties, as Massachusetts Maritime finished a point behind Worcester State for the top spot in the league standings at 4-1-2.
