FINAL:              MASSACHUSETTS MARITIME 3, BECKER 0

BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. --  Three different players scored goals as Massachusetts Maritime notched a 3-0 non-league college men’s soccer victory over Becker in the season opener for both schools Thursday evening at Clean Harbors Stadium.

Sophomore William Taylor (Hanover, Mass.) gave the host Buccaneers (1-0) the only tally they would need in the 34th minute when he converted a rebound from freshman Adam Crawford (Kingston, Mass.), and sophomore Brendan Gawron (Braintree, Mass.) extended that advantage to 2-0 in the 57th minute with a blast from 20 yards out on a feed from fellow sophomore Zach O’Neil (Scituate, Mass.).  Junior Kevin O’Leary (Norton, Mass.) closed out Massachusetts Maritime’s scoring with just under 15 minutes remaining in the match, as he converted senior Matthew McDonough’s (Framingham, Mass.) corner kick to account for the final margin.

Sophomore Connor Murphy (Mashpee, Mass.) picked up the win in net without having to make a first half save for the Buccaneers, who received a second half stop from junior Mike Pruchnik (Rochester, Mass.).  Sophomore Devin Ramos (Warwick, R.I.) made 18 saves in the setback for the visiting Hawks (0-1), as Massachusetts Maritime outshot Becker by a 29-4 margin overall and took seven of the eight corner kicks in the contest.

Massachusetts Maritime heads into Boston on Wednesday evening to take on Wentworth in a non-league outing that begins at 7:00 p.m., while Becker hosts MCLA in a non-league match on Saturday afternoon in Leicester, Mass. beginning at 1:30 p.m.
