FINAL:              MASSACHUSETTS MARITIME 2, FRAMINGHAM STATE 1

BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. --  Freshman William Taylor’s (Hanover, Mass.) goal in the 76th minute proved to be the game-winner and lifted Massachusetts Maritime to a 2-1 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference men’s soccer victory over Framingham State Friday evening at Clean Harbors Stadium.

Taylor knocked in a rebound of sophomore Kevin O’Leary’s (Norton, Mass.) initial shot on the deciding tally (his second of the season) for the host Buccaneers (5-9, 3-3 MASCAC), who evened matters in the 25th minute of action when senior Connor McInnis (Duxbury, Mass.) converted a feed from sophomore Ryan Hardy (Pepperell, Mass.) from 10 yards out for his fourth marker of the fall.  Freshman Igor Pessoni (Marlboro, Mass.) had given the visiting Rams (5-11, 3-3 MASCAC) the early advantage by converting an indirect kick off the foot of sophomore Ben Britton (Peabody, Mass.) just 36 seconds into the contest for his first collegiate goal, and Framingham State had several first half scoring chances before McInnis’s equalizer and Taylor’s game-winner for Massachusetts Maritime.

Junior Joe Cohen (Plymouth, Mass.) picked up the win in goal for the Buccaneers with five first half saves, as the hosts held the visitors to just one shot in the final 45 minutes of action.  Junior Josh Arno (Natick, Mass.) made four saves in the setback for Framingham State, as the Buccaneers outshot the Rams by a 9-8 margin overall.  Both teams had six shots on net and took four corners each for the evening, as Massachusetts Maritime moved into sole possession of third place in the league standings with the triumph.

Massachusetts Maritime hosts UMass Boston in a non-league outing on Wednesday evening at Clean Harbors Stadium beginning at 7:00 p.m., while Framingham State hosts Clark in a non-league match on Wednesday afternoon in Framingham, Mass. that begins at 4:00 p.m.
