FINAL:              BRIDGEWATER STATE 2, MASSACHUSETTS MARITIME 1

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. --  Senior Kolin Campbell’s (Norton, Mass.) goal in the 56th minute lifted Bridgewater State to a 2-1 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference men’s soccer victory over Massachusetts Maritime Saturday afternoon at Swenson Field.

Senior Conor Murtagh (Walpole, Mass.) staked the host Bears (7-1, 2-0 MASCAC) to a 1-0 advantage 10 minutes into the match with a header off a feed from fellow senior Justin Kachadoorian (Leicester, Mass.), but the visiting Buccaneers (3-4, 1-1 MASCAC) evened matters just over eight minutes later when freshman Brendan Gawron (Braintree, Mass.) converted a pass from junior Scott Matoian (Mashpee, Mass.) for his first collegiate tally.  Campbell then lofted a shot from the left side of the net on passes from Murtagh and senior Sawyer Fleck (Foxboro, Mass.) on the game-winner for Bridgewater State, as Massachusetts Maritime had a pair of solid chances to tie the score in the closing minutes but was unable to convert.

Junior Colin Jepson (Sandwich, Mass.) picked up the win in goal for the Bears with a four save effort, while junior Joe Cohen (Plymouth, Mass.) made seven stops in the setback for the Buccaneers.  Bridgewater State outshot Massachusetts Maritime by a 21-8 margin overall (9-5 on goal) and held a 5-4 edge in corner kicks for the contest.

Massachusetts Maritime heads to Newport, R.I. on Wednesday afternoon to take on Salve Regina in a non-league outing that begins at 3:30 p.m., while Bridgewater State hosts UMass Dartmouth in a non-league match on Wednesday evening at Swenson Field beginning at 7:00 p.m.
